Videotaping tips for PLUS and HONORS

The idea of taping a continuous series of exercises can seem a bit daunting at first. With good planning though, it can move smoothly and easily.

One of the most important issues is the camera view. We need to be able to see all the details of an exercise in order to judge it. It’s fine for you and your dog to move around and change positions in order for your work to be clear for the camera. It’s also fine to pick up the camera/tripod and move it to a different location.

As you practice the exercises, videotape them and then watch back to be sure your work is easy to see and you are not accidentally blocking any part of it.

Prepare ahead of time and have all your tools, props, and treats close at hand and within easy reach. This will eliminate any down time between exercises.

It’s fine to release your dog between exercises, give treats, pet, or whatever you normally do. However, keep in mind your overall time limit for your submission.
